Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are highly significant in the emerging markets Alliad works in. We are always mindful of factors such as resource scarcity, social inequality, and governance issues and are actively committed to mitigating them in our operations to support inclusive growth, stability, and sustainable prosperity wherever we work. Ultimately, as long-term partners to our clients and communities, we see sustainability in its widest sense as the way to ensure all our collective futures.

Environment Sometimes the greatest impact is leaving none at all

As members of the United Nations Global Compact we are part of a global community committed to implementing universal sustainability principles.

We know we work often in sensitive areas in environmental terms and thus are extremely conscious of minimising our environmental footprint in all our operations. An example of this would be our construction of 27,000 SQM of warehousing in Abidjan, which received EDGE Certification thanks to it being at least 40% more energy efficient than others in the market. Furthermore, in all our worldwide operations, we are proud to communicate that we had zero significant environmental issues in 2023.

Social While what we do is important, what we leave behind is often more so.

Our commitment towards local communities is a crucial aspect of our sustainable business approach. We believe in promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among these communities, as we recognize the importance of proactive participation in employment, training, and procurement of local resources for achieving a healthy and self-sustaining economy. We actively work with suitably qualified local companies that meet stringent requirements for accountability and standards to serve our clients. This approach aligns with our ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 22000 certifications, as well as our public Communications on Progress available on the UN Global Compact website, further demonstrating our commitment towards sustainable business practices and responsible engagement within local communities.

We are committed to respecting and promoting human rights in all aspects of our business operations, recognizing that they are universal, indivisible, and interdependent. Furthermore, we promote good practices in all parties associated with our operations, including employees, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders, and insist on human rights in our supply chains and communities wherever we operate. We actively promote diverse and equal work conditions in our operations, stressing female hires at all corporate levels and ensuring that all workers undergo ethical training.
